The California Dreamin’ subjects are taken from photographs shot on trips romanticizing the natural forms of Southern California while utilizing the Green, Orange, and Purple Triad. While technically a monochromatic painting purple and orange were mixed with greens to come up with grayed-greens. Temperature, Value, Saturation of color are concerns in this painting and there was fast-paced brushwork and mixing of colors on the canvas, wet on wet. I feel this painting can hang in any orientation.
