The California Dreamin’ subjects are taken from photographs shot on trips romanticizing the natural forms of Southern California. This painting breaks from the series with the monochromatic use of blue. The forms are meant to be vague; it is up to the viewer on what they see: trees, rocky pinnacles, land masses spreading across the sea. Working wet on wet with quick drying water-based paint encourages fast blending of color on the surface. I feel this painting can hang in any orientation.
